Thanks to a lovely Maldivian couple - Muzu and Nima - we met in November 2024, we returned to the Maldives in October 2025 and they were there to meet us at the airport.  We stayed in a small hotel next to where they live and they hosted us for several days including going to their home for dinner and heading to a local island on a family fishing boat.  They are going to be opening a guest house shortly on the island of Maafushi (50 minutes from Male) and I shall be staying there in August.  I'll let you know what it's like.
